5.3 Earthquake Rattles Indonesia's Aceh Province
A 5.3 earthquake occurred in Banda Aceh at 2:08 a.m on Wednesday, according to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, however it did not trigger the potential for a tsunami.
The epicenter of the quake was 30 km deep and was located 48 km southwest of Banda Aceh. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
It was the second quake in Indonesia within two days and the fourteenth this month. On Tuesday, a 6.8 quake shook Maluku. The epicenter was 106 km deep and located 262 km southwest of Saumlaki, Maluku. No tsunami warnings were issued
