A cleaner was charged in a district court on Friday with outraging the modesty of an elderly woman, old enough to be his mother.

And the court heard that Tan See Kwan, 45, may face more charges related to other similar cases involving elderly women.

Tan allegedly used criminal force on the 74-year-old woman with the intention of outraging her modesty behind Block 206, Toa Payoh North, around 7.40pm on Tuesday. It is said that he pulled her blouse and grabbed her neck.

Tan has been remanded at Tanglin Police Division and will be back in courton Friday.

If convicted of outrage of modesty, he can be jailed for up to two years, fined and caned or get any combination of these penalties.
