43-year-old man charged with molesting maids

SINGAPORE: A 43-year-old man was charged on Wednesday with molesting his two Indonesian maids on various occasions in March last year.

Ahmad Basiron, who is self-employed, allegedly outraged the modesty of the two maids, aged 24 and 25, at 90 Langsat Road.

The slim and bespectacled man had allegedly touched both maids, and was also said to have kissed one of them on her thigh and appeared nude in front of her.

Ahmad faces seven charges in all.

His case will be mentioned again on August 24.

Business owner fined $15,000 for molesting maid

A self-employed man was fined a total of $15,000 on Thursday for molesting his Indonesian maid.

Ahmad Basiron, 43, had originally claimed trial to molesting the 24-year-old domestic maid on two occasions at his Langsat Road home in March 2010.

But he threw in the towel on Tuesday at the end of the prosecution's case.

Ahmad, who runs a cleaning services company, was ordered to pay $3,000 compensation to the maid which has been paid.
