Japanese adult video actresses offer sexual services in Hong Kong for HK$12,000 an hour, Sing Tao Probe has found.
Despite Hong Kong police having smashed a syndicate arranging Japanese AV actresses to offer sexual services last October, the SAR remained one of the hotspots for these actresses to make money.
A Sing Tao Probe reporter successfully contacted the agency that arranged Japanese AV actresses to visit Hong Kong earlier, and was able to see and learn how it all works.
The reporter was able to contact one of the actresses through an intermediary named "Little Wong" by social media, who claimed to be a Malaysian Chinese but could speak fluent Japanese because of his studies in Japan. He was familiar with the industry, including Japanese AV companies and actresses.
"Little Wong" recommended an AV actress, Remi, and said the "service charge" is HK$12,000 per hour, as Remi used to be a well-known AV actress who usually charges HK$20,000 an hour, but she was willing to offer a discount as she was currently in Hong Kong.
A deal was made and the reporter met Remi at a hotel in Admiralty. The actress got impatient when she was asked about her work, and the reporter left promptly after.
Japan reportedly produces thousands of AVs every year with an endless supply of new blood. Except for star-level actresses, most of the second-, third-, and fourth-tier actresses may not participate in an AV shooting every month, and the salary is only 100,000 yen (HK$5,502) or lower.
Actresses often have a second job, such as part-time wine escorts or compensated dating in Japan, with some of them even traveling abroad.
The reporter contacted Komaki Lee, a Chinese who has lived in Japan for a long time and is familiar with the local industry. He noted that Japan's economic environment has been poor in recent years, including a downturn in the AV industry.
"With the Internet and Twitter, it is no longer possible to make money by selling CDs. Besides, if you are not a popular actress, you can't make much money. They have not had many jobs in the past few years due to the epidemic. Now it has changed. It's better to sell your body to make money faster."
He believes with customs clearance in various places returning to normal, AV actresses will only become more active in prostitution.
In response to the situation of AV actresses coming to Hong Kong for prostitution, Hong Kong police said they are concerned and have been making every effort to crackdown on prostitution.
From January to May of this year, a number of anti-pornography operations have been carried out, with a total of 445 arrests, including 62 foreigners for crimes such as "soliciting others for immoral purposes," "operating a prostitution ring" and "breach of condition of stay."
The police will continue to conduct intelligence-led operations and work closely with relevant government departments, the mainland and overseas law enforcement agencies to combat related crimes.
