SINGAPORE Totalisator Board chairman Bobby Chin Yoke Choong has been appointed a member of the Council of Presidential Advisers (CPA) for a six-year term.
Mr Chin, 58, received his instrument of appointment from President SR Nathan at a ceremony at the Istana on Monday.
He replaces Professor Cham Tao Soon, 70, SIM University Chancellor, who retired as a council member after having served on it since January 2004.
At Monday morning's ceremony, Temasek Holdings chairman S. Dhanabalan, 72, was re-appointed as a council member on the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who was also present. Mr Dhanabalan has been a council member since January 2004.
The council, which is made up of six members and two alternate members, advises the President in the exercise of his custodial and discretionary powers. The president is obliged to consult the Council before he considers the budgets of the Government and key government-linked bodies, and the appointments of government nominees to key posts.
