30-year-old man allegedly molests woman on MRT train

Posted on 27 November 2024 03:05 pm | 1,346 views | 1 commentA 30-year-old man will be charged in court for allegedly touching a woman inappropriately while she was on board an MRT train.
The police said in a statement that the victim lodged a report on Sept 5 at about 8.10am.
Through follow-up investigations, officers identified and arrested the man on Sept 7.
He will be charged in court on Nov 28 with the offence of outrage of modesty which carries a jail term of up to three years, or a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
The police said they have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the personal safety of those in the community.
"Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law," the police said.
"The police will continue to work closely with various stakeholders, such as public entertainment outlets, public transport operators, and the community, to prevent, deter and detect molestation cases.
"The police would like to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report the matter to the police immediately, if they witness an incident of molestation, or are aware of someone being a victim of molestation."
