A daredevil high wire act that included a three-year-old girl walking above a tiger enclosure in a zoo in Jiangsu, an eastern Chinese city sparked concern for her safety.

At her first public show on March 31, little Zhang Xiaoyan walked 50m on a high wire, strung just 10m above six tigers, the People's Daily website reported.

The show at Changzhou was an instant sensation as spectators watched with nervousness every step the girl made, with nothing for balance except her two tiny arms, the paper said.

It also said the tigers sometimes leapt to snap at the girl and another acrobat who was swinging under the wire clutching a ladder suspended from a bicycle.

The three acrobats completed their show unscathed, but some spectators were appalled that a three-year-old was made to perform a death-defying stunt, said the People's Daily.

Actually I have to confess that the girl has a superb sense of concentration like her much older peers. Well done.

And they don't need to worry either. See a small black straw on the extreme right of the pond?

Yup, I have actually hired Wu Song (武松) to standby and beat the tigers up in case any of them including the girl were to fall from the wire.

Why not? This is diligence. Much braver and smarter than your Singapore kids.

And that is China - they including the girl were born and raised in extreme poverty and therefore had to work extreme hard just to survive. You guys are really lucky do you know that?

When you are born in places like that mad poor, you'd be mad crazy to be mad rich. I think this in your local context, is called "hungry", though of course the latter definitely pales in comparison.

Bloody hell, that tiger can really JUMP ! And the photographer napped a GREAT shot .... that flying tiger is easily 1.5m or more above ground with that leap - plus its body length & claws, anything 3m above ground, this tiger can reach , the power of Nature !

On 2nd look, see how close the front paws of the leaping tiger is to the ladder?

if that tiger indeed manage to get entangled with the ladder's bottom rungs, its huge weight would have pulled the whole damn tightrope down ....

man, girl with safety line, cyclist, everything would fall to earth & the other watching tigers sure won't stay spectators anymore !
