The public-spiritedness of three men led to the arrest of a 44-year-old man for attempted robbery at a goldsmith shop at Vista Point Plaza.
At about 4pm on Wednesday, the suspect walked into the goldsmith shop at Vista Point Plaza along Woodlands Drive 44.
He picked up a stool and proceeded to smash the glass panel of a display case, which contained gold bangles and chains, several times.
The smash-proof display panel however did not give way.
The suspect panicked and ran out of the shop.
This commotion attracted the attention of a security officer who was on duty at the shopping mall and a male passerby in the vicinity.
Together with the owner of the goldsmith shop, they gave chase and managed to detain the suspect.
The suspect was arrested upon the arrival of the Police.
If found guilty, the suspect faces up to seven years in jail and will also be liable for caning.
