3 Malaysians charged over baby's kidnapping, sale

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - An official says a Malaysian court has charged two teenagers and a woman with kidnapping a month-old baby, allegedly for sale to another couple.

</noscript>The court official says the three were accused of kidnapping the baby last week from the house of an acquaintance in eastern Kuantan state.
The official said Wednesday that 30-year-old Shafuan Mat Amin and her brother, Mohamad Sabri, 18, pleaded innocent during a hearing Tuesday. The 14-year-old pleaded guilty. The official spoke on condition of anonymity, citing protocol. If convicted, the three face up to seven years in prison. Police officer Kamaruzaman Jaafar says the accused were caught when bringing the baby to a cousin, who had agreed to pay them 500 ringgit ($140).
