Three Kurdish men from Oshnavieh have been sentenced to 16 months in prison each for participating in protests marking the second anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death.
According to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 101 of Oshnavieh Criminal Court 2 convicted Diako Azizi (34), Loqman Zangi (52), and his son Siamand Zangi (22) on charges of "association and collaboration with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan. "
The court handed down the sentences on October 26.
The men were initially detained on September 4, part of a wider crackdown on Kurdish citizens ahead of Amini's death anniversary.
Azizi, from Bab-e Khaledabad, and the Zangis, both residents of Oshnavieh, were among those detained.
After three weeks in detention, authorities temporarily released the men from Oshnavieh Central Prison on bail as they awaited judicial proceedings.
According to sources, the men were denied legal representation and family visits during detention at the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Urmia.
