SINGAPORE - Police have arrested two men, aged 40 and 61, and a woman, aged 55, for suspected involvement in a theft case.

On Oct 12, 2013 at about 5.35pm, a 52-year-old man reported to the police that his pouch containing several foreign currencies went missing from his haversack.

The man was in the vicinity of Chinatown MRT station when he discovered that his haversack had been unzipped.

Officers from the Central Police Division investigated the matter and conducted an operation in the vicinity of Geylang Lorong 14 on Oct 14, 2013 at about 7.30pm resulting in the trio being arrested for the alleged offence.

They were found with an assortment of currencies which are believed to be stolen. The money was seized as case exhibits.

All three suspects could face a jail term of up to three years and a fine.

Commander of Central Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) Daniel Tan commended his officers for the swift arrests and would like to remind members of the public to take care of their personal belongings at all times, especially in crowded places, and to be wary of strangers who follow them too closely.
