3 arrested for suspected thefts of clothes worth over $20,000

SINGAPORE - Two women and a man have been arrested for their suspected involvement in a series of shop thefts, the police said in a statement on Tuesday.
The alleged thieves, aged between 30 and 31, are believed to have stolen clothing items including jackets, cardigans, dresses and pants from various fashion retail stores along Orchard Road, Harbourfront Walk and Raffles Boulevard.
The police said that they had been receiving reports of the thefts since Jun, and managed to establish the identities of the suspects following enquiries and follow-ups.
The suspects were then arrested on Aug 10, while more than 400 items, including branded jackets, dresses and pants valued at over $20,000, were seized.
The three suspects will be charged in the State Courts on Aug 12 for the offence of Theft in Dwelling with Common Intention.
If found guilty, they may be jailed for up to seven years and fined.
The police also reminded retailers and shopkeepers to take preventative measures against shop theft, such as displaying expensive items in locked shelves and enhancing the shops' security system with CCTV cameras and mirrors.
