SINGAPORE: Police have arrested three men suspected of being involved in loansharking activities.

In the first case, a 21-year-old man was arrested at Holland Close for suspected involvement in loanshark harassment.

Police said that on May 30 at about 2.35am, a resident reported loansharking-related graffiti and red paint splashed outside her unit along Mei Ling Street.

Officers from Clementi Police Division conducted a systematic search which included surrounding locations where similar loansharking-related writings were previously found.

The officers arrested the suspect and also seized a sling bag containing loanshark-related paraphernalia including marker pens, a packet of red paint, a pair of gloves and some papers with debtors' records.

Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect is believed to be involved in several cases of loanshark harassment at Mei Ling Street, Holland Close and Pasir Ris.

Separately, a 36-year-old man was arrested for loanshark harassment with the assistance of several members of the public.

Police said on May 29 at about 6.15pm, they received a call informing that a loanshark runner was detained at Anchorvale Link.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division responded swiftly and spotted several men struggling along the service road at Block 305A Anchorvale Link.

The officers intervened and arrested the 36-year-old loanshark runner suspect.

In the third case, police said on May 29, at about 11.26 pm, through following up investigations, officers from Jurong Police Division arrested a 34-year-old male suspect at Jurong West Street 65 for suspected involvement in loansharking activities.
