SINGAPORE : Three men have been arrested for allegedly harassing loan shark debtors' by setting fire to the exterior of their homes.

The suspects, aged between 20 and 43 years, are believed to be responsible for at least seven cases islandwide.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department conducted raids in Toa Payoh and Yishun on Tuesday, resulting in the arrests.

During the course of the operation, mobile phones, lighters, flammable liquids, containers, marker pens, cans of paint, bicycle locks, padlocks and other items such as paper records and name cards were also seized.

The suspects will be charged in court on Wednesday.

If convicted of operating or assisting in the operation of a loan sharking business, the suspects can be fined up to S$300,000, jailed up to four years and get up to six strokes of the cane.
