地震前兆？日本島根縣濱田市一處河口21日發現一隻長達340公分的巨大烏賊，目擊者趕緊連絡附近的島根縣立Aquas水族館，工作人員趕到時發現這隻烏賊已經死亡多時，將牠打撈上岸。水族館分享這隻巨大烏賊的照片後，在網路上引起熱烈討論；也有人認為，這是地震即將來襲的前兆。

《朝日新聞》報導，目擊者為一名41歲婦女，她表示開車回家路上在岸邊看見不明物體，「我一開始以為是一條魚，下車走到附近一看才發現是烏賊。因為真的很大，想說可能是大王烏賊。」便趕緊連絡附近的島根縣立Aquas水族館。

趕到現場的水族館工作人員發現，這隻烏賊已經死亡多時，重達135公斤，身長340公分，光是上半部的身體就有158公分；欲捕捉獵物、將觸鬚完全伸長時，總長度可能達到6至7公尺。

據了解，通常大王烏賊是棲息在水深600至1000公尺的深海裡，不少人看了照片都感到擔憂，「會不會有大地震啊」、「太神奇了」、「好可怕」、「這是什麼預兆嗎」不過相關單位認為大王烏賊應該是在暖流的作用之下，隨著海口漲潮才會漂進河流內，因此民眾不需太過緊張，而該大王烏賊將來會製作成標本。
