Imposter held over thefts
By Wendy Lim
POLICE have arrested a 45-year-old man who impersonated a law enforcement officer to commit thefts.
He is believed to have been involved in several such cases reported since Aug last year.
The suspect would approach lone foreigners at MRT stations and identify himself as a manpower ministry or police officer using a pass with a photo. He would demand the victims to follow him to secluded spots and remove their valuables on the pretext of searching their belongings.
The suspect, who was nabbed on Monday, will be charged in court on Wednesday for impersonating a public servant and theft.
If convicted, he may be jailed for up to three years and/or fined.
