Chippendales coming to S'pore
Jan 27, 2010
FORGET The Full Monty. The original exotic male dancers are coming to town. The Chippendales, the world-famous all-male revue, are giving eight performances at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) from March 5 to 10.
Featuring everything from men in uniform to dusty cowboys, this will be the production's first time in Singapore and their first performances in Asia in 20 years.
In response to queries from Life!, RWS spokesman Robin Goh noted that as International Women's Day falls in March, 'we wanted to do something specially for the women'. 'I think the Singapore women audiences are ready for male revue shows, judging from the response to Thunder From Down Under last year,' he said.
Thunder From Down Under - Australia's answer to the Chippendales - gave a week of performances here last February.
Mr Goh brushed off concerns that the performances might give Resorts World a sleazy image. Instead, they would be 'a very professional performance' comprising 'a balance of flirty fun and tasteful teasing (with) just a little bit of skin showing'.
'I think it will be very widely popular with women. Men are also welcome,' said Mr Goh.
