24 years for raping daughter

FOR six years he raped his only daughter, starting when she was at the tender age of eight. Yesterday, the 57-year-old security guard was jailed for 24 years for his crimes.

The High Court yesterday heard that the abuse started in 2002, when the girl was awoken by her father forcing himself on her.

Although in pain, she did not cry out as she was afraid of him.

His youngest son, then aged four, was asleep in the other room. His other three children and his wife were out.

The girl later told psychiatrists that her father would rape her two to three times a month after that.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, would usually first ask her if he could have sex with her. She would remain silent as he took off her clothes and then raped her in his bedroom, as was the case in mid-2006.
