ALOR SETAR - A 34-year-old man was detained after he allegedly forced his wife into offering sexual services to foreign workers since December last year.
On Thursday, the 23-year-old wife was caught by Rukun Tetangga staff investigating "suspicious" activities at a house in Bandar Amanjaya, Sungai Petani.
She was found with a Bangladeshi man in a room at about 9.30pm.
Outside the house, her husband was waiting in a car with their seven-month-old baby girl to fetch her home "after work".
The woman told the raiding party that her husband had taken her to the house and forced her to have sex with the man whom he had earlier collected RM50 (S$16) from.
The Bangladeshi man, however, escaped.
This had been going on since December when the husband became jobless.
The couple, who stays at Paya Nahu flats in Sungai Petani, has a three-year-old daughter who is cared by the woman's mother.
Kuala Muda police chief Asst Comm Md Zukir Md Isa confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
He said Rukun Tetangga members raided the house after they found out about "suspicious activities" inside the house.
"They raided the house while the woman was in the middle of entertaining the Bangladeshi man," he said.
"The husband has been remanded for four days to facilitate the investigations," he said, adding that the case is being investigated for exploiting a person for the purpose of prostitution.
