GEORGE TOWN: A police raid in the wee hours at an entertainment outlet here dampened the party mood of hundreds of patrons. Fifteen men and five women aged between 20 and 40 were brought back to the Penang police headquarters in Penang Road after they tested positive for drugs.
A team of 20 from the state narcotics department raided the outlet at 2am following a tip-off. State Narcotics Department chief Supt R.S.S. Batumalai said those arrested would be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“Those who tested negative in the urine test were released after their statements were recorded. “We will continue with the raids to fight the drug menace,” he said.
