WASHINGTON (AP) — Three men have been indicted on charges of conspiring to illegally export material used in space and weapons technology to China.
The men — two from Singapore, one a resident of New York — are accused of conspiring to send carbon-fiber material to a space technology academy that builds satellites for the Chinese government. Charges are detailed in an indictment unsealed in federal court in Minneapolis.
The case is the latest alleging violation of laws barring the export of weapons, military equipment and national security-related technology to certain nations.
Over the past year, the Justice Department has filed charges in 145 cases of alleged export violations.
