SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 46-year-old man for attempting to enter the Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) casino with another person's identity card. A 41-year-old woman was also arrested for abetting the offence.

On Aug 29, 2012, the man who was issued with an Exclusion Order was detained after he was found using another person’s identity card to enter the casino.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had borrowed the identity card from his friend to enter the RWS casino as he had been banned from entering the casinos.

His friend, a 41-year-old woman, who abetted the offence by handing her identity card to the suspect, was also arrested the next day.

Both suspects will be charged in Court on Feb 1, 2013, for offences under the National Registration Act, Chapter 201.

If convicted, they face a fine of up to $10,000, or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years, or both.

For the offence of failure to pay the entry levy under Section 116(6) of the Casino Control Act, the 46-year-old man shall be liable upon conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,000, and shall also be liable for the amount of the entry levy that was not paid.

Commander of Clementi Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Melvin Yong, said that the Police will not hesitate to take stern action against those who attempt to enter the casinos with false identities as well as those who allow their identification documents to be used by those who are under exclusion orders. DAC Yong would also like to take this opportunity to remind the public that the offence of misusing another person’s identification document is a serious one and that during the festive period, such verification of identity would still be carried out and they should not be misconstrued that they could evade the checks when the casinos are crowded.
