2 nabbed for loanshark harrassment in Hougang
Published on Nov 22, 2011
Police arrested two men on Tuesday, in connection with loanshark harassment activities in Hougang's housing estate.
The suspects, aged 18 and 21, were spotted behaving suspiciously by officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division, during anti-loanshark operations in the vicinity of Hougang Avenue 5.
They were arrested after the officers conducted a check on the suspects and found loansharking-related paraphernalia comprising markers and mobile phones containing debtors' records in their possession.
The items have since been seized as case exhibits but police said in a statement on Tuesday evening that the suspects are believed to be involved in several cases of loanshark harassment in the Hougang estate by splashing paint and scrawling loanshark-related graffiti on the walls of debtors' units.
