SINGAPORE: Police arrested two men for their alleged involvement in loansharking activities in two separate cases on 15 January.
In the first case, a 32-year-old man is believed to have carried out loanshark harassment in Yishun housing estate.
His tactics supposedly include locking debtors' gates using bicycle locks, and splashing paint and scrawling loanshark-related graffiti on walls of staircase landings.
The man was spotted behaving suspiciously by police officers at the staircase landing of a block at Yishun Ring Road.
He was found to have with him loanshark-related items, including a mobile phone containing suspected debtors' records, cans of paint, a permanent marker and bicycle locks.
In the other case, a 19-year-old man is believed to have assisted loansharks in their illegal business by going to debtors' residences to demand for repayment and by performing banking transaction on behalf of the loansharks. The suspect was arrested in the vicinity of Tampines Avenue 4.
Both suspects will be charged in court on Tuesday.
