2 charged over false on-line address declarations of 14 foreign workers

Published on Oct 4, 2011

Two men were charged in court on Tuesday with falsely declaring the residential addresses of 14 foreign workers under a company.

Lim Jiun Wei, 38, general manager of Eng Leng Contractors, is accused of making false declarations in the Online Foreign Worker Address System (OFWAS) 14 times while Francis Wan Kar Hou, 32, a site manager, is alleged to have intentionally aided him in the offences.

Wan is said to have provided Lim with various false residential addresses for declaration in the OFWAS so that the workers' work permits can be approved.

The pair had allegedly tried to deceive the Ministry of Manpower by providing false addresses of their foreign workers, while housing the workers in another address which was found to be of unacceptable conditions.
