Ukrainian man, 34, dies of COVID-19; 38th such fatality in Singapore

SINGAPORE — A 34-year-old man from Ukraine died of COVID-19 infection in Singapore on Sunday (1 August), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Monday.
The man was the youngest person to have died of COVID-19 in Singapore to date. He was the 38th fatality from the infection here.
In its daily COVID-19 report, MOH said the man was an imported case and was completely unvaccinated. He was a sea crew who arrived in Singapore on board a vessel on 29 July.
He had developed a fever, cough and lethargy on 25 July, and subsequently breathlessness on 31 July. He was conveyed from the vessel to Singapore General Hospital on Sunday, and was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on the same day.
On Monday, MOH reported 111 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore, taking the country's total case count to 65,213.
There are 106 new locally transmitted infections, of whom 25 are unlinked. The ministry did not provide a breakdown of how many of them are in the community or are dormitory residents. The remain five cases were imported.
