Two businessmen involved in the multi-million dollar Singapore Land Authority (SLA) cheating case will be let off with a stern warning.
All charges of conspiring with two SLA officers and a go-between were withdrawn against Mr Png Teck Soon, 49, and Mr Tan Peng Chong, 46 and the duo were granted a discharge amounting to an acquittal on Thursday.
Mr Png told The Straits Times that they had been made used of by the real perpetrators. Both men said that they were very relieved and intend to put this matter behind them.
In all, SLA was cheated of $12.2 million and in 2011 two former staff members pleaded guilty to cheating the statutory board of that amount between November 2007 and March 2010.
Former deputy director of the its technology and infrastructure department, Koh Seah Wee, 42, was jailed for 22 years, while Lim Chai Meng, 39, a manager, was jailed 15 years.
