However, it is also sad to say that if you have been to Chinatowns around the globe, you will find chinese speaking Cantonese, Hokkien, Tehchew, Hainanese etc. their mother's tongue but in Singapore all these chinese dialects seem to have disappeared. Our new generation can only understand Mandarin. It is always good to know your roots.
