It’s been a good Rally speech!
I must commend PM Lee for crafting his speech in Malay, Mandarin and English to particularly address the concerns of these different racial/language groups.
Like; he noted that Singapore’s Malay/Muslim community has come a long way in developing its own distinct identity while retaining their roots, culture and religion.
Apart from race and religion, PM Lee also singled out health care as a longer term issue that must not be neglected. It’s good to learn that the Government is studying ways to build more Community hospitals alongside acute ones so as to provide more step-down health care in order to lighten the burden of families with elderly or ill parents.
But like he said, we have to play our part to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I particularly enjoyed the Singapore “Then & Now” segment of PM Lee’s speech. MediaCorp’s TODAY newspaper, take a bow!
On the economy, PM Lee assured us that there won’t be massive retenchments for the three months ending September. Although sunny days are not here yet, there is reason to be optimistic for the long term.
We may want some of our concerns to be looked into but I reckon PM Lee had to address the broader issues at the end of the day.
Overall, I think PM Lee hit the right notes and delivered with conviction.

I think we can ask Singapore Powers that during PM's speech, Singapore ambient temperature drop to 27*.
Singapore consume much more power before the speech and it was 29*.
