<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I REFER to Wednesday's report, 'Fire safety checks for 200 condos', which said that the fire at Ava Tower, a condominium off Balestier Road, was put out within 10 minutes.
In fact, it took more than 30 minutes to get the fire under control. One possible reason for the delay was the failed attempt to shoot water to the eighth-floor unit from a hose at ground level.
Anyway, it is good that there will be fire safety checks, and I hope the Singapore Civil Defence Force will conduct more firefighting practices (with different scenarios) for its staff.
