Ms Hetal Gala, 28

The Singaporean permanent resident moved to Singapore last year when her financial controller husband was posted here for work and has been looking for a job since.
She formerly worked as an assistant manager of residential leasing in Shanghai and as a sales and marketing manager in Mumbai specialising in luxury projects.
She is looking for a marketing position in the real estate industry, preferably in the commercial and retail sectors, or in market research.
SHE SAYS

'I want to continue to grow as a professional and hope to work with a company where I can learn and hone my skills and at the same time contribute to its progress.'
THE EXPERT RECOMMENDS

Chris Teo of executive search firm PeopleSearch says:

'Hetal has good international exposure working and living in various cities and has demonstrated some level of adaptability. This could serve her well in adapting to different organisation cultures.
Her exposure in different segments of property development and marketing gives her an overview of the sector.
With her background in marketing and work experience, she could do well in a marketing role for most industries.
Her work history may appear sporadic in her CV due to her husband's frequent relocation. She may need to indicate her achievements in each job as well as her intention to stay in Singapore.'

He's keen on urban planning
ST_IMAGES_11595674.jpg

Mr Kenneth Wong, 28

The Malaysian senior planner finished his three-month contract with a city planning private consultancy in early March.
He has worked as a personnel executive in an international urban planning firm and as an engineer specialising in water treatment and irrigation hydraulics. He was also a journalist with a Chinese newspaper as well as a film critic.
He is looking for a role in urban planning but is open to arts management or media and engineering related corporate consultancy positions.
He holds a master's in urban planning from the University of Hong Kong and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
HE SAYS

'I am hoping to build a career in urban planning. I have applied to government agencies and have approached private consultancies but I have not heard from them. I hope to get a Singapore-based role with regional exposure.'
THE EXPERT RECOMMENDS

John Dave Ng of executive search firm PeopleSearch, says:

'Kenneth's varied interests and experience in the civil infrastructure sector makes him a suitable candidate for a non-technical role within the sector, such as marketing or business development.
'The economies of some countries in Asia are fuelled by investments in the infrastructure sector, and Kenneth's bilingualism and experience in the region would enable him to take up a regional role.
'He appeared a little nervous at our initial meeting and may need to polish his interview skills...' e-mail:[email protected]

The fatty wants the easy way out in real estate, if she really wants to do real estate marketing, join Dennis Wee, throw flyers, do cold calling and door knocking late in the night for at least two years, that is what I would hire as a real estate sales person, not some fat cat who waits for a job to come and after that just take salary sitting in the office waiting for walk in customers.......for that type of marketing only sexy ex air stewardess who is willing to sit on boss's lap may apply.

Actually come to think of it, having many FTs in Singapore is actually a good thing, bosses, rental specialists and landlords are all enjoying Boom Town Charlie, Singaporeans must learn to move up the food chain.
