15 and 16 year-olds among 7 arrested for loan sharking activities

The police have arrested seven people believed to be involved in loan sharking activities, including a group of teenagers aged 15 and 16.

A 15-year-old girl and four 16-year-old boys were arrested on Tuesday after the police were alerted to a case of loan shark harassment in Jalan Bukit Merah. The girl was nabbed at the estate while the boys were caught in Jurong on the same day.

Loanshark-related paraphernalia such as a can of paint, a black marker and four mobile phones believed to contain debtors' records were found in their possession.

The police said that they had harassed households in Redhill and Lengkok Bahru as well.
