Mr Wong said:<< "Immigration is a key source of population augmentation which we cannot afford to do without. In a nutshell, we need 60,000 babies just to replace our resident population. But we only have about 37,000 babies per year. This is why we need about 20,000 new citizens in order to keep our citizen core.">>
Each time the DPM Wong bemoans the low fertility rate; he should make sure that the latest ABORTION DATA is published side by side with the shortfall of babies needed by Singapore before justifying the need to import immigrants.
It is not far off the average figure of 14,000 babies aborted in Singapore each year. Majority are repeat abortions from married women for social/economic reasons. Free Maternity care and child deliveries at KK hospital for 14,000 births per year including free childcare at creches up to schooling age won't even cost the PAP govt the billions $ being lost each year in bad investments.
The PAP govt is in a position to correct the social/economic reasons that resulted in 14,000 aborted babies going down the sewers by utilising $$$ to remove social/economic barriers to having MORE local babies. Instead of squandering BILLIONS and BILLIONS of $$$ on bad overseas investments, invest that money on social structures that encourage more local babies being born than aborted each year.
