KOTA TINGGI: Fourteen security guards here have been detained for possession and consumption of drugs. The have been remanded until Feb 4 to help in police investigations.
“We have been monitoring their activities for over a month for drug-related offences,” said Kota Tinggi deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Muhammad Shamsudin.
He said officers from the narcotics department stopped a security van ferrying the 14 guards along the Kota Tinggi-Johor Baru road at around 6.30pm on Jan 21.
A routine search found that one of them had 0.19g of heroin in his possession while eight others were tested positive for heroin consumption.
“Subsequent investigations showed the other five guards had previous criminal records for drug and theft related crimes,” he said.
