12-year-old boy, suspected of being a hitman for a drug cartel in Mexico, has been arrested. The arrested boy is believed be the sadistic El Ponchis, (The Cloak) who has been working as a paid executioner the UK's The Sun quoted top Mexican officials as saying.
A second child is also being hunted by the Mexican police, according to Pedro Luis Benitez, the attorney-general of Mexco's central Morelos state. El Ponchis, who was based just outside the city of Cuernavaca, has been reported to have tortured and killed dozens of enemies of his cocaine cartel. He is known to cut his victims' throats so violently that their heads are left hanging by a thread and also cut off their genitals.
En Ponchis was said to have been working with a group of girls, including his sisters, who are referred to as Las Chavelas and are often responsible for disposing of the bodies. Grisly Internet videos show him boasting that his gang is paid US$3,000 per murder by drug barons whose gangland wars kill an average of 50 people a day in Mexico.
Videos of El Ponchis attacking one enemy with a stick and cutting the throat of another have appeared online, as have photos of him posing with various weapons and standing by a dead body. The boy works for the little-known South Pacific cartel, which has allied itself with the brutal Los Zetas - former government paramilitaries who have gone rogue - to battle the major La Familia cartel for control of southwest Mexico.
Attorney-general Benitez said the arrested boy and the other child being hunted were still young enough to play with toy guns. "It’s easy to give them a firearm, making it appear a plastic weapon and that it is a game," he told a local radio station.
