11 arrested for illegal gambling

SINGAPORE - 11 people between the ages of 19 and 58 were arrested by the police in Little India for illegal gambling.
The suspects were arrested at about 11.30pm on Wednesday at a shophouse in Sam Leong Road.
The police also confiscated gambling-related paraphernalia such as payout slips, 22 computers, modems, cash amounting to $791, and others as case exhibits.
The police reported that 3 of the 11 arrested will be charged with Gaming in a Common Gaming House while another person will be charged with Managing a Common Gaming House.
Investigations against the others are still ongoing.
If found guilty of illegal gambling, a person can be fined up to $5,000, and/or jailed up to 6 months. If found guilty of managing such a premise, a person can be fined between $5,000 and $50,000 and may also face a jail term of up to 3 years.
