<!-- story content : start --> IN A multi-agency raids at various locations including entertainment outlets, back lanes, lodging houses, and in Geylang and Joo Chiat road, as well as forested areas in Woodlands, 108 persons were arrested. The joint effort, which ended early on Friday morning, was led by the Criminal Investigation Department, and involved more than 200 officers from the Singapore Police Force, the Central Narcotics Bureau and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, together with officers from Singapore Customs. The persons were arrested for a host of criminal offences including illegal gambling activities, secret society involvement, peddling contraband cigarettes, vice-related activities, trafficking and drug-related offences. The operation also uncovered persons working without a valid work permit. Investigations against those arrested are ongoing, said police.
