SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has arrested 108 drug offenders and seized over S$160,000 worth of drugs in an island-wide operation spanning over four days, from 7 to 11 October.

In a statement late Friday night, CNB said the crackdown covered various areas, including Aljunied, Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Boon Lay, Chai Chee, Clementi, Ghim Moh, Hougang, Jurong, Marsiling, Redhill and West Coast.

The exercise, which was supported by the police, also netted 20g of “Ice”, 610g of cannabis, 70g of ketamine, over 290 Erimin-5 tablets and some 30 “Ecstasy” tablets.

But the main heroin haul was made on Friday, in the areas of Kitchener Road and Upper Paya Lebar.

At about 9.30am, CNB officers followed a 48-year-old Singaporean man suspected of drug trafficking from Kitchener Road.

The suspect was collecting a drug consignment from a group of Malaysian men, and subsequently parted ways with the group.

Shortly after, a party of officers arrested three Malaysians, aged 18, 19 and 20 years, at the junction of Kitchener Road and Serangoon Road.

Another party of officers arrested the 48-year-old Singaporean in Upper Paya Lebar, and recovered about 900g of heroin from him.

The man was brought back to his hideout at Kitchener Road, where a search uncovered another 300g of heroin.

CNB said all four men are being investigated for drug trafficking, and if convicted, they may face the death penalty. - CNA/xq
