SINGAPORE: Central Narcotics Bureau officers have arrested 10 suspected traffickers and 88 suspected drug abusers, after a four-day raid between October 17 and 20.
The island-wide operation also pulled in close to S$70,000 worth of drugs, including approximately 424g of heroin, 44g of ketamine and 8g of Ice.
The bulk of the heroin - 34 packets weighing about 370g - was seized on Wednesday when officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) raided a suspected drug trafficker's hideout in a Boon Lay HDB flat.
The man, a 52-year-old Singaporean, was taken in along with his 41-year-old wife. If convicted, both face the death penalty.
That same day, another raid on a hotel in Geylang led to the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker - this time a Singaporean known to be a street drug peddler.
The 50-year-old was found with drugs and paraphernalia such as digital weighing scales.
If convicted of trafficking, he faces up to 20 years in jail and 15 strokes of the cane.
Two others in the hotel with him - a 28-year-old Malaysian man and a 48-year-old Singaporean woman - are both being investigated for drug use.
