<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->VOLUNTEERS and staff of Dover Park Hospice (DPH) spent a good part of Monday 'planting' 1,000 sunflowers at the open space near Raffles Place MRT Station.
They were hoping that by Sunday, when its inaugural Sunday Family Walk kicks off, the entire area would be blanketed by 10,000 sunflowers - paid for by donations from well-wishers.
But when they returned yesterday, the flowers were all gone - stolen.
Lawyer Stefanie Yuen-Thio, who heads the fund-raising committee, is puzzled as to who would have done such a thing. 'They would have to trudge into the wet grass to pull out the flowers,' she said.
Some of the flowers were put up after members of the public donated money to the hospice.
Despite the loss, volunteers will continue to plant the rest of the donated flowers until Sunday. DPH needs about $4 million each year to provide subsidised and often free care for its patients. It has to raise two-thirds of the budget itself.

Don't think is stolen la.

If the cleaner did not clean up the place with unwabted rubbish, or things that did not get approval to be there, they need to clear them else kena sack from they jobs.

Imagine if they are above 40 years old, sure cannot find next job.

Cannot blame the cleaners. they are just doing their jobs efficiently.
