In the outbreak of the Rakhine State conflict in Myanmar in 2017, nearly a million Rohingya Muslims fled their homes and fled to neighboring Bangladesh as refugees. In the past, Myanmar’s “Democratic Goddess” Aung San Suu Kyi was attacked by international public opinion as an accomplice to the military and persecuted the Rohingya accomplice. She was deprived of seven personal rights awards in the past year, but she still remained silent on this “ethnic cleansing” incident. . He Liren, vice president of the University of Hong Kong and a researcher at Myanmar, said that Wengshan Suji’s character is quite stubborn, and public opinion is hard to shake her mind.
On the 14th of this month, Aung San Suu Kyi and US Vice President Mike Pence met at the ASEAN Singapore Summit. Peng Si accused the Burmese government of ignoring the persecution of the Rohingya in the face of Aung San Suu Kyi. And bluntly said that "there is no excuse" and hope that the Myanmar government can hold accountable. But Aung San Suu Kyi only responded coldly: "We know our country is better than others." Ian Holliday said in an exclusive interview with "Wind Media" on the 17th that Aung San Suu Kyi’s character is stubborn and it is difficult for others to shake. Her thoughts, international public opinion and other leaders' suggestions may be difficult to change her attitude towards the Rohingya incident.

He Liren had a few faces with Aung San Suu Kyi. He recalled that as long as Aung San Suu Kyi appeared, it was not only the focus of the audience, but the atmosphere would become very solemn. "When she entered the room, she went to the shrine. Like the advent, everyone on the scene will immediately be quiet. Some national leaders will show their demeanor on certain occasions, but Aung San Suu Kyi obviously does not want to bring her closer to others."

He Liren said that the character of Aung San Suu Kyi has a lot to do with her house arrest under the military government. Since 1989, Aung San Suu Kyi has been under house arrest several times, and he was regained his freedom in 2010. During the house arrest, Aung San Suu Kyi had to contact her husband and children only through letters, but each letter was unpacked by the military government. . In order to protest the military government’s censorship, Aung San Suu Kyi prefers to sever contact with his family. Even if she knew that her family would be anxious for her safety, she did not waver. He Liren said that Aung San Suu Kyi during the house arrest did not have any foreign aid. She could not believe the people around her. She could only rely on her own judgment and believe her decision, which caused her stubborn character.

Wengshan Suji’s character also reflects her leadership style. It is rumored that the list of members of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in 2015 was decided by Aung San Suu Kyi. She was also the only woman in the list of cabinets in 2016.

Ethnic cleansing will not shake the foundation of the NLD, and the economic stagnation brought about by turmoil is the key
He Liren said that although Wengshan Suji’s face does not care about Rohingya’s ethnic cleansing, it is more important that she asks the military for accountability under the countertop. This is not known. However, in Myanmar, there is widespread hatred against Rohingya Muslims, and it is difficult for the people to accept their leaders to speak for the Rohingya. For the general public in Myanmar, ethnic cleansing in the distant Rakhine State is too far away, and not many people care. In contrast, people care more about Myanmar's economic problems. He Liren said that the CDU is a very attractive party that is very popular among the Burmese. Rohingya’s ethnic cleansing will not shake their roots, but the economic problems are not solved. It is difficult to protect the NLD from being rejected. "Who wants to invest?" A country that constantly sends out conflicts, massacres and ethnic cleansing?"
