Hoeness: Bundesliga better than BPL

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness believes that the Bundesliga is Europe's second-best league, behind Spain's La Liga and ahead of the Premier League.

Officially, Germany's Bundesliga rank third in UEFA's association league coefficient ranking, behind Spain's La Liga and leaders England's Premier League.

The UEFA ranking is calculated by the performance of the country's clubs in the continental competitions, but Hoeness has begged to differ on the issue, stating his opinion that the English league should be ranked third.

He told Bild am Sonntag: "We are currently number two behind Spain. Italy, we have long left behind us; England, we are just about to leave behind.

"Based on the full breadth, I would consider the Bundesliga even today as the strongest league in the world."

With four different teams winning the Bundesliga title in the past five years, Hoeness has a valid point.

As compared, both Spain and England's domestic league has seen only two winners since 2004; the La Liga title has been shared between Barcelona and Real Madrid while the Premier League trophy has only been lifted by Manchester United and Chelsea in the past seven seasons.

Hoeness was also a great player for Germany.
But he's talking cock. When was the last time a German team won the champions league?
If Wigan played Hertha Berlin on neutral ground, the score would probably be 4-0 in Wigan's favour.

Hoeness is making this claim becos they have always played second best to the BPL. I think he got his geography all mixed up when he made that comparison. German Football does not have the same appeal as BPL and the type of football they play is almost pedestrian although this has gradually improved over the years. Nevertheless they have a long way to go to match the excitement and experience of La Liga or theBPL.

While the gap between top brass British teams are gradually narrowing, you cannot say the same for Spanish or the German league.Hoeness must be smoking some kind of shit before he made those comments. The thing about Bayern is they have constantly use their financial clout to bully their competitors in the Bundesliga. The creme de la creme of German soccer will end up in Munich through the lure of $$$$$.

Joachim Low : "I think the days are gone when FC Bayern could simply take away a player from Dortmund," Low told Sport Bild.

Germany coach Joachim Low believes Borussia Dortmund young gun Mario Gotze will one day play for one of Europe's biggest clubs.

Low has become the latest identity to comment on the ongoing speculation over Gotze's future, after Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness had last week expressed his interest in the 19-year-old. Dortmund immediately replied by stating it was only natural for Bayern to be interested in a player of Gotze's quality, but reiterated that the player would be staying at the club for at least two more season.

Bayern have a history of poaching the best young talent from across the country, but Low believes their ability to bully other German Bundesliga clubs into selling them their prized assets will not work on Dortmund, who are the reigning league champions. "I think the days are gone when FC Bayern could simply take away a player from Dortmund," Low told Sport Bild.

"Dortmund are [now] quite competitive]." Dortmund have also stated in the past that if they were ever to allow Gotze to leave, it would be to a foreign club, and Low has no doubts that scenario will materialise in the near future. "[He] will end up some day at a top club abroad." Low currently has no lack of quality in his German side, with a plethora of established players challenging in each position.

Joachim Low would one day take on the job at Bayern. Then someone should asked him again whether all road leads to Munich. His name popped up several times even before Van Gaal took over the reigns. Bayern is the only club in the Bundesliga that can pay top dollars for players.
Joachim is obviously underestimating the persuasive powers of Beckenbauer and company. They will convince Gotze to play for a club which has a fan base far larger than Dortmund and some of the lesser known clubs combined. Like everything else, money will pave the way for Dortmund to give in once the valuation of the player meets their expectation. That is how it will pan out.

Seriously, I have yet to see German clubs retain their top talents and consistently get ahead or challenge BM in the Bundesliga.

BERLIN: Schalke 04 coach Ralf Rangnick on Thursday became the second German league coach this week to part company with his club after the 53-year-old cited fatigue syndrome as his reason to stand down.

After Hamburg sacked coach Michael Oenning on Monday, Rangnick has quit Schalke with immediate effect on his own terms after just six months in charge.

"After long and careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that I need a break," said Rangnick on Schalke's web page.

"I found it incredibly hard to make a decision like this, but my current energy levels are not high enough to succeed and in particular to advance the team and the club.

"I am taking this step for the benefit of the team, who I wish every success for the rest of the season."

Rangnick steered Schalke to the Champions League semi-finals last season and to their German Cup final 5-0 win over second division Duisburg.

For Saturday's home Bundesliga game against Freiburg, assistant coaches Josef Eichkorn and Markus Gisdol have stepped in for the interim until a replacement is found.

Rangnick took over as Schalke boss on March 17 after the Royal Blues sacked Felix Magath, who is now coach of 2009 champions VfL Wolfsburg.

Rangnick is the second coach to leave his post in the German league this season after Oenning parted company with Hamburg, also after six months in charge.

Rangnick quits as Schalke boss
22 September 2011

12427262790.jpg

Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick has decided to step down from his position as the man in charge at the Bundesliga outfit due to health problems.

The 53-year-old replaced Felix Magath as Schalke coach in March 2011, but he has now decided to resign as he has chronic fatigue syndrome.

"After giving it a lot of thought, I have come to the conclusion that I need a break.

It's been a very tough decision for me, but I simply lack the energy to help the team forward," Rangnick told Schalke's official website.

"I have taken this decision in the best interest of the team and I'd like to wish them all the best in the remainder of the season."

Schalke manager Horst Heldt said that he supports the coach's decision as he feels Rangnick's health is the top priority.

"Ralf deserves nothing but respect for making this decision," he said. "We completely agree with him that his health has priority over anything else."

Assistant coach Seppo Eichkorn has been appointed as caretaker boss until Schalke find a permanent replacement.

Schalke currently sit ninth on the Bundesliga table with nine points from six games.

"Bundesliga better than BPL, La Liga"

Ex-Chelsea and Tottenham director of football Frank Arnesen has praised the quality of the Bundesliga over its continental rivals.

Having travelled throughout Europe and studying it's different footballing leagues, the current Hamburg coach crowed that Germany's top-flight is better than any other in Europe.

"If you consider all aspects, the Bundesliga is the strongest league in Europe," Arnesen told Bild.

"If you see how many people come to each game, it is fantastic.

"Here [in Germany], anyone can beat anyone else. The Bundesliga is so unique. I am very glad that I have the privilege of working here."

Although Hamburg are languishing 16th on the Bundesliga table, Arnesen still retains hope for their season.

"It remains difficult to get out of the bottom of the table, even though I have seen a clear upward trend from the team in recent weeks," he added.

"There is still a difficult season ahead of us. We must do everything to ensure that we avoid the drop", he concluded.
