SINGAPORE: Member of Parliament for Aljunied GRC Sylvia Lim has decided to withdraw an adjournment motion to debate the public interest in town council management at the next sitting of Parliament on Monday.

Ms Lim, who is also Chairman of the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC), filed the motion on Tuesday.

On Thursday, she said she would withdraw the adjournment motion as Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has called for a government review of the nature of town councils.

She believes the goal of protecting the interests of the public and residents would be better served if the Government investigation and review were to first proceed.

Ms Lim said after the review has been completed and its findings published, the matter can be raised in Parliament again as the circumstances require.

On its part, the AHTC is ready to provide its input to the Ministry of National Development for the review.

The review stems from the saga, in which AHTC blamed its poor performance in a management report on the termination of an IT-systems contract by PAP-owned Action Information Management (AIM).

That's the right move. Why should WP teach or assist PAP in parliament and make them look good?
The AIM saga started with MND trying to discredit WP but ends up with MND conducting a review of their own doing....what a joke!

WP is afraid if they question AIM too hard PAP will start questioning FMSS. PM Lee threw them a lifeline when he announced having the issue dealt with.

How do you expect WP to question PAP in parliament when this issue is now under review at MND? Every answer from PAP is simply going to be "wait for MND review. Don't jump the gun".

It's not the FMSS WP is worried about. It is the participation and contribution of ideas in parliament
that will enlighten those m'fuckers in white. The more WP asked in parliament the more PAP will learn. Let the people ask and question while WP catch them outside parliament

I urge all opposition parties, bloggers and websites such as TR Emeritus to not teach or assist PAP how to run things more effectively or the former will lose at the next GE.

The thing is, do you think PAP take social medias and bloggers seriously?
If not for the impending WP's motion in parliament do you think a review is at hand?

Have you read The Straits Times, 10 January 2013, Forum's printed letters page? There is a writer surnamed Tan who denounced postings on online forums and blogs.
