A MAN was jailed for six months on Thursday for hurting a 50-year-old man by slashing his arm with a chopper.
Khng Hay Bock, 58, had pleaded guilty to causing hurt to Mr Toh Eng Siong along Kitchener Road last Dec 10.
The court heard that Mr Toh and his four-year-old son were walking towards his car when Khng dashed infront of them and knocked into the child.
When Khng did not apologise and kept walking, Mr Toh confronted him. An argument ensued. Khng then went to a restaurant nearby and took a chopper from an empty stall.
He found Mr Toh seated in his car with the door slightly ajar. He opened the door and swung the chopper at the victim, slashing him in his arm. Mr Toh's wife shouted for help.
Two Nigerians who were having their dinner nearby helped to detain Khng.
Khng could have been jailed for up to two years and/or fined for voluntarily causing hurt.
