SINGAPORE: A 45-year-old man has been charged with three counts of criminal intimidation against a police officer from Jurong Police Division.

Tan Cheng Hai allegedly phoned the divisional headquarters between October 22 and 31 last year, telling the operators on duty that he wanted to kill Staff Sergeant Stanley Png Weiwen.

Tan is also accused of sending an email to another officer from the division on January 6, claiming that he would kill all police officers.

It is believed he also sent a fax containing insulting and abusive words to the division on August 21 last year.

Tan will be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for a psychiatric evaluation and will be back in court on February 7.

If convicted of criminal intimidation, he can be jailed for at least seven years for each charge.
