Why should library@esplanade be open only to F1 ticketholders? Should close it instead

STOMPer BettyL was perplexed when she was told that she could not visit the library@Esplanade because 'it was only open to F1 passholders and staff'. She does not think that F1 passholders will visit the library and believes it would be more prudent to close the library during this F1 period.
BettyL elaborated in her email:
"I was among other library users who walked through City Mall link to the Esplanade but were stopped at the escalators that lead to the Esplanade underpass.
"I called the Esplanade Library to inquire if there was a way for me to gain access and I was told that the library was 'only open to staff and passholders during F1'!
"I was clueless about this restricted accessibility. The public should have been notified.
"I would have appreciated some signage but there was none.
"And here's another consideration, would F1 ticketholders really be interested to grab a book and not be out there watching the race?
"Why not close the library and give the staff a break during the F1?
"The public, myself included, would be more satisfied with the reply that the library is closed rather than hearing that 'the library is accessible only to staff and F1 passholders'.
"Isn't a library for public use regardless of events?
"If the public can't access it, then close it."
