Much has been said from both sides of the fence as to whether one should intervene or not.
It has to be noted that in almost all such incidents, the police adopt the stance that they will not investigate or charge the aggressor unless the aggression was against a police officer. Instead, they treat it as a matter for the victim to pursue as a private summons.
That being so, perhaps it is timely now - with much public discussion on how the public should react in such situations - for the police to provide a clear advisory on the dos and don'ts, including what one should look out for when one encounters such incidents.
