Bro,
second that... take a look at the swimming fraternity.... take a look at their socio-economic status... they are mainly from the privileged lot.

Not just in swimming. How many m&d gold medal winners in sea games? Cannot study cannot do sports. But can be reserved for president.

Once they retire from international sports, they will convert their PR to citizenship as there is very little value holding on. She is not the only one. There is a girl in Switzerland and another in the US. Remember the Singapore table tennis player from PRC, she went back to Beijing after she retired.

If Chloe makes into the Canadian team, I am sure she will covert in a heartbeat.

Looks like Chloe will move back to Singapore. LOL!

If she is not Canadian citizen she cannot represent Canada.

Anyway Singapore is shit when it comes to sports. Usually the rejects of other countries go to sinkieland.

It seems to be the theme now. Suck off sinkieland resources and money. Scam sinkies. Then later laugh away to the bank.

All sectors not just sports mind you.

Gosh Doc, you really need to line this up properly. She properly knows that she is not up to Canadian standard and thus has retained her Singapore citizenship to participate in international events. She is a Canadian PR and she has all the access to the Canadian system including benefits. Once she retires from International sports, she can take up Canadian citizenship and give up her Singapore citizenship.

Its a quid pro quo arrangement where Singapore state controlled press does not mention her background except that she is Singaporean. They did the same with Singapore's first Mt Everest Expedition. It ended up having 2 Malaysians summitting. Despite the wide scale publicity and charity drive by the President of Singapore over 2 years no one mentioned that the expedition leader was also a Malaysian. And he worked for SPH. It was shocking embarrassment. And they were also not the first Malaysian to summit Everest. A Malaysian Indian beat them to it months earlier.

Agree on the rest.

Dun begrudge the sportsmen.
They can't make it in their native country.
And then here is this sg open arms and throwing money at them offering another shot.
Anyone would take it. Blame pap.
Not just in sports but everything from education to jobs too.

Thanks for highlighting Scroobal, wasn't aware of this piece of nugget as I'm not a sports fan. It seems our sports medal policy is slowly transforming from blatant foreign purchases to covert promotion of achieving individuals whose only connection with Singapore is legally holding a red passport.

Exactly. Might as well enjoy the journey. We also have so called serial investors and Techies who migrated to the US but now because of the various government grants have held on to the citizenship while the families are in the States. The former head of Cyber security Mindef went to the US and started a company with another Singaporean. After 3 years, he is back in Singapore and working on govt project and because of Temasek, Alipay as also invested in his company.
