He actually moved to the UK and became a resident. Only flew in to handle GIC meetings 8 times a year. After killing off potential candidates which gave Nathan 2 walkovers it was becoming increasingly embarrassing and therefore they brought him back to have a contest and make them look good. And surprisingly his son-in-law got the local gig as Dean of law faculty. Reminds of Philip Yeo's time running our Bioscience agenda. He agreed to employing the spouse to win the targets scientist over. It became so bad that one Dept Head, had her husband and brother in law working in her department.

you'll love this…..guess you know where uncle tony's daughter has been working in a high paying job for over 10 years now….you won't believe it.

Here is simple choice to make. Who would you vote for if only 2 candidates stood for the EP elections -Halimah or Fandi?

I started this thread because I noticed most Singapore think along the lines of our infamous Yaw Shin Leong of WP who famously told everyone he voted a PAP candidate in his ward rather than a SDP candidate. And Yaw was contesting the elections himself for the opposition. His maths and logic was so screwed up he did not even realise what he was doing.

The PAP has dominated this country since 1959 and they can change the constitution and pass laws at wimp which they have done repeatedly. When you go to the polls, vote anyone no matter how much you despise that person rather than the PAP candidate. Thats the only way to get the PAP listen.

Nobody cares if Fandi or anyone out there can run a sarabat stall. That non-PAP candidate can be an ex-convict but please vote him or her in. Once we break this cycle of impunity nothing will change where the PAP is concerned.

He a great footballer and that it, no more.

With so much admendments to the EP powers, no different who the EP anymore. Just a lame duck who collect paycheck every month for doing absolutely nothing.

The vote anybody regardless who that person is line of thought is perhaps only applicable to the Presidential Election. In the General Election, you have parties. And political parties who admit crap candidates will lose credibility. You could perhaps have a slew of independent candidates willing to lose their deposits but seriously it will never work. It is just a fantasy.

If I could vote Fandi I would. The guy is a Singapore football hero. And hearing how he lost all his money is pretty sad. Giving him the Presidency which is a figure head position anyway would at least give him that 2.6 million a year salary and give him wealth he deserves.

Look the guy really made it on the world stage. It was just a pity he was born in Singapore. Unlike those ministers and fake generals who completely cmi on the world stage.

Think of the Presidency as a vote for most deserving Malay Indian Chinese or Others every 4 years to win a lottery of $10.4 million. They can later use that money to further their personal causes.

For eg that Dr Wee who went to Afghan should be a prime candidate for Chinese President the next time it gets to Chinese vote.

I support Fandi for President. And then when it comes to Others maybe Joseph Schooling.

Its difficult when we were all raised to accept academic excellence, high status in public service etc. The PAP carefully crafted the rules so we think our choice is limited to what they have stated.

The PAP actually makes you think that you have carefully evaluated and considered all the candidates with great objectivety when you are actually dealing with Hobson's choice.

Can you imagine you are stuck with Halimah. Firstly not even a Malay. Secondly her public service stint and profile gets a excellence award for toeing the line. Nothing important that anyone can remember. Surely there must be other Malays that are better than Halimah.

Looks like we are scrapping the barrel looking for a suitable Malay EP candidate.

So much for meritocracy.
