Samsung's Galaxy Note could be released in the autumn

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 looks likely to be released in the autumn and there's plenty of reasons for fans of this phablet to be exited.

This new device could be one of the best smartphones Samsung has ever made with rumours suggesting it will feature a giant curved Infinity display and new S Pen which will vibrate as it touches the screen.

Improved battery and more processing power are also expected, making this one of the most powerful phones on the market.

However, to take the crown of "best phone of the year" the Galaxy Note 8 will have to beat its popular sibling - the Galaxy S8.

The S8 has been universally praised and recently received top marks from the team at Consumer Report who say it's currently the best phone on the market.

Now a new leak might prove why the Galaxy Note 8 may blow the S8 out of the water.

This latest schematic from SlashLeaks shows the rear of the Note 8 featuring a dual lens camera.

Many thought the Galaxy S8 would get a double lens but this never materialised on Samsung's flagship.

Dual cameras offer huge improvements for photography including the ability to zoom and produce DLSR-style depth of field.

If the Note 8 does include a dual-lens snapper it will place it one step ahead of the Galaxy S8.

And there's another feature the leaked image shows which will offer users an improved experience.

The technical drawing reveals a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device - something the S8 has faced huge criticism for.

But this time Samsung appears to have placed the scanner underneath the camera lens rather than alongside it.

This would make it far easier to use and should avoid the camera getting covered in mucky fingerprints.

Although this latest leak shows the scanner on the rear of the phone other rumours have suggested this sensor will actually be placed under the display.

A photo, which has been published last week by CNMO, also shows the Note with its dual camera but no scanner on the rear case.

It's thought that Samsung was close to including this embedded scanning technology on the Galaxy S8 but ran out of time perfecting it.

If Samsung can return the scanner to the same position as its Galaxy S7 phone it could put this device another step ahead of the S8 and help to take on the upcoming iPhone 8.

Apple is thought to be working on a new device that will also feature a giant display that will cover the entire front of the device.

The US technology giant could be planning to embed the scanner under the screen with numerous leaked picture showing a rear case without a scanner.

Still using my Samsung Note 3. With S7 rom.
In fact not much changes after note 3. As note 3 has 4k video already and still fairly runs fast.
Only lack is the finger scanner

My note 3 just suddenly went dead last year. The android robot keeps showing and it cannot start up. Brought it to repair they looked at it for 2 weeks and said couldn't do it.

Have since switched to iPhone 7

I was thinking of getting the Note 7 and then it blew up literally. There isn't much choice right now for big screen smartphones.

Too bad Samsung.

Note 7 (limited quantity, only stocks from the initially bad battery batch) already available again as a safe and excellently brilliant smart phone.

Refurbished Galaxy Note 7 details leak ahead of launch

The Galaxy Note 7 fiasco concerning its unexpected and widespread battery explosions still seems fresh in our memories, while Samsung has already announced its third attempt at selling its ill-fated Note 7 units as refurbished or recycled models soon. The company had twice recalled its infamous flagship device earlier, after reports of it catching fire became evident across the globe.

The company has reportedly decided to sell the old Note 7s as refurbished units just to "reduce and minimize any environmental impact."

Close on the heels of Samsung announcing its plans for launching recycled Note 7 units, freshly leaked price and battery specification details for the refurbished variant has surfaced online via Chinese microblogging site Weibo.

The leak suggests the refurbished Note 7 will be selling at a $300 price tag and ship with a reduced battery capacity of 3200 or 3000mAh to prevent the device from overheating and catching fire, due to the inconsistent battery size of 3500mAh battery, which was included earlier with the flagship handset.

According to Samsung's recent official statement to The Verge, the company plans to re-release the Note 7 with a different name and a bit newer technical specification. Furthermore, the company has confirmed that it will not be providing refurbished Note 7 units for rent or sale in the US, but it will collaborate with local regulators and carriers to sell the device.
